Principal's Welcome to Memorial School
(Gr K-2)
The K-2 population at Memorial School is fortunate to have a dedicated staff that goes above and beyond expectations to provide a safe, nurturing environment. This quality staff combined with a supportive parent group and an active PTSA provides more than just the three R’s!
Cultural Enrichment opportunities and emphasis on the guiding principles
of the Maine Learning Results help to build eager, enthusiastic learners
that will be prepared for their next step in the education journey.
Thanks for taking the time to visit the Memorial School website, please check back regularly as there will be frequent updates all year long. If you have suggestions or ideas for our site or our school, feel free to contact me anytime.

Memorial School News/Updates
Updated July 20, 2010
- Kindergarten Screening for any
child entering ‘K’ that has not already been screened is on August 6
at Russell School. Parents are requested to contact Mrs. Leavitt at
Memorial School (926-4322) for more information.
- Kindergarten Orientation is on August 25th.
A letter with more details will be sent home prior to the orientation.
- The school wide Ice Cream Social is on August
25th. Parents and students are invited to join their new classroom teacher
from 6:00-6:30 and then at 6:30 everyone will be invited to join together
for ice cream and a little to time to reunite prior to the school year
starting.
- August 30th is the first day of school, letters
with transportation information will be sent home from the transportation
office. If you have transportation concerns, please call Rachel at the
bus garage, 657-2181.
- A reminder that on Friday September 3rd there
is no school, enjoy the long Labor Day weekend!
- September 27th will be our first early release
day. Please take time to clarify with your son/daughter any change to
their normal dismissal routine. A note to the teacher may also be helpful.
- Information from the school normally comes home
in totes. I expect there will be a tote the first day and each of the
following Thursdays. You are asked to take out all papers and return
the tote (in student's backpack) the very next school day.
- If you plan on volunteering in anyway at Memorial
School this year, you are reminded that you must complete a volunteer
application first. This includes work in the school, field trips and
all other school sponsored activities. An application will be sent home
on the first day of school to all parents. If by chance you need one
earlier or do not receive one, stop into the office anytime.
